Redevelopment of Campobasso Terminal, Gravina announces the start of works: «A turning point after 40 years of bad politics»

«The redevelopment of the Campobasso Terminal was one of the promises we made to the citizens of Campobasso and we kept it», thus the regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement, Roberto Gravina, former mayor of the regional capital, commented on the start of the preparatory procedures to the imminent official start of the works at the Campobasso Terminal.

«Today there was, right in the terminal area, the organizational meeting to define the construction site spaces and be ready to start the works immediately after Corpus Domini, around the closure of the schools, finally making one worthy of a capital city of the works that have been symbols, for about 40 years, of degradation and bad politics. Once the works are complete, the property will be able to offer services such as ticket office, waiting room, luggage storage, bar, restaurant and small commercial activities, as well as obviously toilets.

And for those who clumsily dismissed this intervention as “falling from the sky thanks to the PNRR”, I would like to remind you – Gravina underlined – that this work, like the others included in the so-called PINQUA, was financed with ministerial funds when the PNRR did not yet exist and this only thanks to a high quality project, designed by our administration and written together with a multidisciplinary team from the Municipality of Campobasso. At no cost to the organisation, it is always worth repeating, this important financing was obtained, surpassing much more famous cities in northern Italy.

This intervention, once completed, will also allow for new revenues for the Municipality of Campobasso, precisely because it has been administered with a “managerial” eye – explained the current regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement – attentive to finding new financial spaces without increase taxes, but increase revenue through public assets; having done so without resorting to “project finance”, as happened in other municipalities and to the full advantage of the private sector, will therefore allow new resources to be obtained from the person who will manage it through a public tender, without privileges for friends or associates, but in only interest of the users and of all citizens.

The Campobasso terminal, in fact – Gravina said in conclusion – between the bus station (tolls and services paid by the transport companies) and the private area, will be able to generate new revenues amounting to approximately 500,000 euros, to the full advantage of road maintenance, sidewalks and essential services for improving the quality of life of a community”.
