The City Council approved the Pef Tari 2024, already validated by the Srr ATO Ragusa and which resulted in an 8.22% increase in tariffs. This is an increase that derives from precise legal obligations, from the need to recover the cost increases strictly connected to the 2022 waste emergency in Sicily. “How can we forget – states the deputy mayor Giuseppe Fiorellini – that the Region at the end of 2021 and for the year 2022 declared a waste emergency in Sicily, due to its own inability, forcing the Municipalities to take Sicilian waste out of the Region with increased costs of 300%. And how can we forget the increases in inflation, energy and expensive materials which were quantified by ARERA at just over 14%. So many municipalities have done well by increasing tariffs by double figures (over 25%), while the vast majority of Sicilian municipalities are teetering between an already declared bankruptcy or one to be declared. The 8% increase in Vittoria is the result of administrative work which, despite the increase in tons of waste collected and therefore a clear increase from 2022 in the cleaning of the city and the territory abandoned in previous years, is reduced due to the effect of choice of waste delivery channels which have saved hundreds of thousand euros and as a result of an activity to expand the number of taxpayers (recovery of tax evasion) who have to pay the Waste Tax which has allowed the spread of the increase in costs.”

There are eleven municipalities in the province that are suffering from the Iblea Acque affair, the pages of the newspapers are full of it, and which hope for the return of the service as well as the provincial capital itself. Well, the choice of the Municipality of Vittoria to continue managing the city’s water system is contested by the opposition after it had contested, just a few days earlier, the same leaders of Iblea Acque. They didn’t understand anything, the organization did well not to give up the service in a moment of great confusion and initial corporate crisis of Iblea Acque”.
