VICENZA, 265 REQUESTS FOR RELIEF DUE TO BAD WEATHER (in the video above intervention in Malo, in the photo: rescue intervention for a homeless man in Contrà Barche)
Since midnight on May 16, the operations room has received 265 requests for intervention. At 2.00 pm, 154 interventions had already been resolved with teams on site or interventions no longer necessary. At the moment 10 fire brigade teams are operating with interventions in Isola Vicentina with 4 drainage operations underway, 2 in Pojana Maggiore, Noventa Vicentina, Schio, Vicenza and Costabissara. The service device was reinforced with the teams of the volunteer firefighters of Thiene and Recoaro, early recall of the emergency personnel and a team from the Rovigo command. There are still over 100 interventions waiting. The rescue operations are coordinated by the commander Eng. Andrea Gattuso.
Among the interventions worth mentioning is the rescue, just before dawn, of a homeless gentleman in the boat area of ​​Vicenza, who was in a completely flooded area and who the rescuers reached with a dinghy. The man was taken to safety and reached a new shelter on his own. A woman who remained isolated with her child in the Caperse area of ​​Vicenza was evacuated with a rafting dinghy and taken to a safe area.
