Fiom joins and will participate in the demonstration on May 18th at Villa San Giovanni against the Strait Bridge

Labor referendum, national mobilizations and Strait Bridge. These were the three main themes of the General Assembly of Fiom Cgil Calabria which met in the presence of the National Secretary of Fiom Cgil Silvia Simoncini.
The Calabrian metalworkers’ union, led by the General Secretary Umberto Calabrone, supports the effort of the Chambers of Labor in collecting signatures on the referendums proposed by the CGIL and carries out the campaign “For work I put my signature” through the assemblies held in the workplace and not only that, as well as supporting confederal initiatives.
Fiom supports and will participate in the demonstration on May 18th at Villa San Giovanni against the Bridge over the Strait, a useless and harmful work for the territory and for its development.
Also at the center of the work is the great democratic participation of metalworking workers on the renewal platform of the Metalworking Industry Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Fiom believes it is essential to put workplace safety at the center as a priority to stop the daily massacre we witness!
The union will participate in the national demonstration on May 25th in Naples which has, among the themes, that of stemming the proposal for differentiated autonomy which would widen the gaps between territories, penalizing the weaker ones such as Calabria.
For Fiom it is essential that the next European elections and the next European Parliament put the search for peace, labor rights and a welfare state that provides answers to the weakest groups at the center.
