Saturday 15 June in Portici will be a morning totally dedicated to the protection of the sea, which will see the coastline and the Tyrrhenian Sea interact harmoniously in line with the fundamental principles of the Blue Economy.

At 10.00 am at the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station the workshop entitled “Recovery and conservation of sea-coast heritage: the Pelikan System and the Coastal Operation” will be held and followed, at 12.00 pm, by the launching of the Pelikan class anti-pollution vessel “Miglio d’Oro” financed as part of the Local Development Strategy of the Coastal FLAG Miglio d’Oro measure 4.63 OP EMFF Campania 2014/2020 for the restoration of biodiversity in aquatic environments.

A moment of in-depth analysis divided between strategic elements linked to the foundations of the European Green Deal in the first part of the morning which will culminate with the concrete action of the launch of the “Golden Mile” boat, a real floating laboratory created by Garbage Group equipped with full electric propulsion which will carry out its mission of cleaning, depolluting and monitoring the coastal waters with a 360 degree sustainability perspective, producing zero emissions.

The day will see the participation of Vincenzo Cuomo Mayor of Portici, Luigi Mennella Mayor of Torre del Greco, Ciro Buonajuto Mayor of Ercolano, Pasquale Ciotta Commander of the Port Authority of Portici, Ida Montanaro Commander of the Port Authority of Torre del Greco, Nicola Caputo Councilor for ‘Agriculture Campania Region, Antonella Cammarano regional FLAG representative – Head of Priority IV of the EMFF, Maurizio Minichino President Flag Litorale Miglio d’Oro, Luca Tortora Director Flag Litorale Miglio d’Oro and Paolo Baldoni CEO Garbage Group. The workshop will be coordinated and moderated by the journalist and sociologist Giuseppe Giorgio. The day is open to citizens and the press is invited to participate.
