Friday 17 May 2024 at 6.30 pm at Morosini Palace Of Venice will be held on concert of the pianist Alessandro Tavernaa special event organized by the Santa Cecilia Foundation of Portogruaro in collaboration with General, Generali Private Bank And Lion Winged in support of the 42? edition of Portogruaro International Music Festivalscheduled from August 29 to September 13, 2024.

The title chosen for this edition of the Festival is Imprints: sound memorieswhile the plan of the music festival will be announced on Tuesday 16 July. “I chose the theme of memory through the imprint – declares the Artistic Director Alexander Tavern – to tell a musical journey that has unfolded in Portogruaro uninterruptedly for over 40 years, but also to reflect on its outcomes and explore other types of “footprints” and signs left over time by men and women who have nourished a collective memory, a heritage of cultural experiences that have made Portogruaro unique in the area, and beyond. This common memory, which the Portogruaro Festival represents, transcends generations, reducing distances, offers opportunities for shared knowledge and becomes the glue of a territory that merges its diversity in a harmonious and concordant sense”.

The evening of Tuesday 16 July to the Russolo Theatre in Portogruaro will take place the Festival preview concert held by the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto conducted by Marco Angius, a symphonic program on pages by Beethoven and Schumann. For the first time, this year the Festival has established a Workshop for young conductors dedicated to the in-depth study of Beethoven’s Symphonies, held by Marco Angius with OPV as a team in residence. The initiative is part of the Music Masterclasses that bring some of the most illustrious concert performers and teachers at an international level to Portogruaro, for which it is possible to register until Wednesday 10 July. This year Mi Luca Magariello (cello class) and Alessandro Mele (violin class) also join the teaching staff of the instrument masterclasses.

Between past and present the Closing concert of the FestivalFriday September 13th. The composer Nicola Campogrande has been commissioned to write a new work, the Concerto for violin, horn, piano and orchestra, published by Breitkopf & Härtel, which will be performed for the first time by the Orchestra della Toscana directed by Donato Renzetti with soloists the violinist Francesca Dego, Marc Owen on horn and Alessandro Taverna on piano.

During the concert at Palazzo Morosini, the pianist Alessandro Taverna will approach the Wanderer-Fantasie D 760 by Franz Schubert for two Waltz by Johann Strauss Jr. transcribed for piano, including the famous On the beautiful blue Danube, and a tribute to the histrionic Austrian pianist and composer Friedrich Gulda, whose Aria will be performed.

In over 40 years of activity, the Portogruaro Music Festival has acquired a prestige it’s a notoriety such that it has become one of the most important cultural proposals in Italy, thanks to the growing number of musicians, teachers, students and orchestras from various parts of the world.
