In the last two championship matches the coach will not be forced to make a turnover
It will be a season finale only for the “loyalists”. Without the (pleasant) burden of having to play every three days anymore, writes Gianluca Piacenini on The Corriere della Sera, De Rossi will be able to prepare the matches against Genoa (next Sunday at 8.45pm) and Empoli having the typical week available to work and therefore will not be forced – injuries (Spinazzola and Dybala) permitting – to resort to turnover.
After a period in which the coach had to make the most of the entire squad, now it’s time to make choices, which will also be indicative for next year. Starting with the goalkeeper: even though he made his debut under Mourinho, Svilar is De Rossi’s choice and if today Roma finds itself an asset between the posts, the credit goes to the current coach: the Europa League website has published a statistic that highlight how Svilar is the first for saves in the competition with 54 saves (12 in the return against Bayer Leverkusen), a figure that on the one hand highlights his strength but on the other that Roma is a team that concedes too much.
For the rest, Sanches, Aouar, Huijsen will hardly be seen on the pitch againalready long gone, but also Zalewski, Celik (he hasn’t played since his expulsion with Milan in the Europa League) e Karsdorp. De Rossi will give space to “his” men: Mancini, Pellegrini, Cristante, Paredes, Lukaku, El Shaarawy, Angeliño, Ndicka, Llorente, Dybala and perhaps Smalling. For others there will be space only in case of need.
