He was trying to embark for Algeria for escape arrest after killing his partner. A 44-year-old Frenchman was handcuffed in Genoa on charges of femicide, just after arriving in Italy from the municipality of Antibes, on the French Riviera, passing through the Ventimiglia border.

The arrest in Genoa

As reported by Handle, the Genoa railway police stopped him for a check, at the Brignole station. The officers had become suspicious of the fact that the 44-year-old foreigner, of Algerian origins, would have accelerated his pace towards the exit seen at the sight of the uniforms.

The nervousness shown by the Frenchman during the identification pushed the police to deepen their checks on him, discovering the European arrest warrant for femicide, issued against him on the same morning of Tuesday 14 May by the Court of Appeal of the Tribunal Judiciary of the city of Grasse (France).

The accusation of murder of his partner

The man is accused of killing his partner in their home on the French Riviera. It would have been the same 44-year-old, on Saturday 11 May, who called for help, saying have no more news of the woman.

After informing the competent judicial authority, the police took him to the Marassi prison awaiting extradition to France.
