Port of Brindisi, new piers for ferries in Costa Morena

Brindisi – Important news for port of Brindisiin fact in the construction site area, in Costa Morena west, work began driving campaign of the steel piles constituting the briccole. A special crane, equipped with a vibro-driver, manages to drive the metal poles that will support the pier which is only used for docking and mooring ships, at -43 meters from mean sea level. The first briccola is located 17 meters from the current quay, the remaining four at an interval of 30 metres; while the last one, on the sea side, will be positioned 60 meters from the previous one. The briccole will be connected to each other by steel walkways to allow the passage of mooring men and port pilots. The briccole system will have an overall size of 200 meters and has been designed to allow the mooring of Ro-Ro ships of a length between 109 and 196 metres, thus completing a fundamental work to guarantee safety during the mooring phases in the port of Brindisi.
