Carpet checks by the Terni traffic police, during the last weekend, together with the mobile health office of the police station with doctors and nursing staff from the state police. A total of twenty-nine people underwent tests: of these, seven tested positive for alcohol, resulting in the suspension of their driving licence. Three of them recorded a blood alcohol level higher than 0.8 grams/litre and for this reason they were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for driving while intoxicated. However, one person tested positive for the drug test, resulting in a complaint. The State Police recalls that «the Highway Code provides for important consequences for driving while intoxicated and impaired by the use of narcotic substances, which can be both administrative and criminal. Furthermore, if the driver is also the owner of the vehicle and exceeds the blood alcohol level of 1.5 grams/litre, the vehicle will also be confiscated. The prevention of accidents, especially among young people, represents not only a need, but an indispensable and priority objective.”
