Thunderstorms arriving in Como and the province with triple civil protection alert. Forecasts

Triple weather alert for Como and its province, according to the Lombard Civil Protection, with even strong storms on the way.

For the second part of today 14/05 a resumption of rainfall is expected first in the western sectors and subsequently also in the remaining regional territory. Scattered rainfall is expected from the afternoon, locally in the form of showers and thunderstorms, tending to become widespread in the evening in the western sectors, strong and persistent between the high plains and the Pre-Alps.
Between the night and the morning of tomorrow 15/05 Moderate rainfall is expected throughout Lombardy, including heavy rainfall on the north-western plain and nearby sectors of the Pre-Alps. In the afternoon-evening the precipitation will tend to become scattered, but in conjunction with a greater probability of local showers or thunderstorms, especially on the plains.

Thunderstorms will be possible, albeit in a context of Low or Very Low probability of strong thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. It should be noted that between the evening of Tuesday 14/05 and the night of Wednesday 15/05 the regeneration and persistence of precipitation is probable, with a more probable scenario at the moment which frames this situation between the Varesine Lakes and Prealps and Nodo Idraulico areas of Milan (especially on the border with Piedmont), but the involvement of the Lario area and the Western Prealps and marginally of the central plain cannot be excluded. Possible local accumulations over 12 hours of up to 100-140 mm are reported on lakes and the Varese Prealps and up to 80-100 mm between Lario and the western Prealps and the Hydraulic Hub of Milan. Strengthening winds are expected in the plains and in the Western Pre-Alps, with possible gusts of up to 40-50 km/h in the plains and up to 50-60 km/h in the exposed sectors of the Pre-Alps.
The Functional Center will re-evaluate the new forecast scenarios and the data recorded in the area in the morning of tomorrow 15/05 to update the alert codes valid starting from the second half of the day.
