Michael Mohan supports one of the criticisms made by the public against Immaculatethe latest cinematic effort with a protagonist Sydney Sweeney. A prominent actress, in recent months she has demonstrated her versatile talent by occupying the big screen several times, ranging from a rom-com like Everyone except you to a superhero movie with Madame Web up to being the protagonist of a horror film set in an Italian convent. In Immaculate Michael Mohan worked as director and, in a recent interview, he admitted that he agreed with one of the criticisms made by the public towards the film.

Immaculate, the director agrees with a criticism made by a spectator

For some viewers, Immaculate turns out to be far too dark. A comment also addressed on the web and promptly addressed by the director. Critics generally supported the film positively, especially for the performance of Sydney Sweeney who plays Cecilia, a nun who arrives at an Italian convent and discovers that she is miraculously pregnant. In Italy the film is still unreleased and has set a release date for July 2024. In the meantime, however, the American public who has already had the opportunity to enjoy the film at the cinema has expressed a criticism: why is it so dark? The user via X (previous Twitter) commented: “Immaculate is comically dark. I’m watching this in a dimly lit room and can barely see what’s happening on the screen. Why do they do certain things intentionally?”. At that point the director wanted to have his say.

I know, man. It was absolutely not done intentionally. We have no control over the compression specifications of each platform. It’s a problem that bothers me a lot and, after comparing them all, iTunes is the closest to what we wanted, it’s the brightest of all.

It therefore seems that the problem in question was encountered through the streaming use and not cinematic.
