Laura Abenante from Casentino on the tatami for the Youth League, the youth karate world cup. Born in 2007, the athlete from the Casentino Karate Academy of Rassina is ready to experience a trip to the Spanish La Coruña where she will fight in a prestigious event which, between Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th May, will see the best boys and girls of sixty-four countries from all continents. Abenante’s last participation in the Youth League was last September in the Mexican Merida with the colors of the Tuscan regional representative and, consequently, she will now be called upon to live a new world championship experience in the -48kg of the Junior category.

The objective of the representative of the Casentino Karate Academy is to gain points to climb the world ranking and the Italian ranking, thus acquiring useful positions for being called up to future national youth teams. The results achieved in recent weeks, among which the bronze medal won at the Italian Junior Championships stands out, have certified the technical, physical and mental growth path of this athlete set in the Rassina gym together with the teachers Luca Boldrini and Filippo Oretti. In fact, Abenante’s 2024 also recorded a silver and a bronze won in two events of international importance such as the Italian Open in Riccione and the Karate Open League in Padua where he played high-level matches in which he demonstrated character and determination Furthermore, in March he deserved to be called up for the youth national team meeting in Lignano Sabbiadoro. The event in La Coruña will be the first seasonal commitment in the Youth League, with the intention of doing well and then following up on this experience in the subsequent stages in Poreč in Croatia and in Venice.

The excellent moment experienced by the Casentino Karate Academy is also demonstrated by the results achieved in the regional phases for access to the Italian Championships in the Beginners category. The company succeeded in celebrating three medals and three consequent qualifications for the national finals with each of the three competing athletes, by virtue of the gold of Lara Piantini and the silvers of Pietro Falsetti and Filippo Organelli who will now experience the emotion to compete with peers from all over Italy at the Olympic Center in Ostia between Friday 31 May and Sunday 2 June. «Abenante is reaping the fruits of work, sacrifices and passion of long years of training and fighting – comments Oretti, – and it is a positive example for the many boys and girls in the youth sector of the Casentino Karate Academy. This athlete is, at the moment, among the best in Italy as certified by the many medals won in the first part of the season with which she has legitimized the possibility of going to fight at the world cup where she will experience the thrill of testing herself with peers from every continent and to gain a wonderful opportunity for human and sporting growth».
