In Marsala yesterday the Five Star Movement presented two of the candidates for the European Parliament, Patrizio Cinque and Antonella Di Prima. The main objective is to bring Sicilian issues to Europe, from agriculture to fishing, from the ecological transition to the protection of food specificities without forgetting the problem of drought.

For Patrizio Cinque: “European legislation has put the survival of navies to the test, with the difficult management of tuna quotas and the need for new boats to remain competitive. It is crucial to promote an informed vote that takes these issues into account and supports concrete solutions for the fishing sector. Likewise, we must consider the direct testimonies of fishermen who work every day at sea and who suffer the restrictions imposed by international treaties and community regulations. From the rising cost of fuel to bio-lockdown regulations and competition, it’s a complex environment in which to continue to operate. It is essential to find a balance between environmental sustainability and the economic vitality of the sector.”

Antonella Di Prima was already a candidate for the European elections five years agotries again with greater political solidity and with the clear ideas of those in Europe who must represent not only Sicily but carry forward the forgotten requests.

Also yesterday in Marsala there was Pietro Bartolo, candidate for the Democratic Party. He is an outgoing parliamentarian. It is important for Bartolo, he was keen to underline, to be able to convince young people to take an interest in politics, to go and vote.

Today there is a lack of attention for Europe, considered distant from Sicily but a primary instrument for building the future. On the European tableBartolo always says -, peace and migratory flows can no longer be relegated to a mere piece but addressed comprehensively, Sicily has faced landings and will continue to do so but it is clear that the complexity of these flows must be addressed with European coordination”.

Leoluca Orlando will also visit the city of Marsala in the next few daysleader in the Islands for the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra, will meet the citizens on Sunday 19 May, at 5.30 pm, in the Finestre sul Mondo premises.
They will also participate in the meeting, coordinated by Mattia Filippi, provincial spokesperson for Green Europe the candidates Giuliana Fiertler and Emanuele Barbara.
