Sinner beaten by Alcaraz who wins by 3 sets to 2 and reaches the Roland Garros final

Carlos Alcaraz, after 4 hours and 12 minutes of play under a scorching sun, beats Jannik Sinner and will play the Roland Garros final in Paris on Sunday, challenging the winner between Zverev and Ruud

The one concluded today in Paris was the ninth match between the Italian and the Spaniard, who, winning in 5 sets (2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3), is once again ahead 5 -4, the title will be played by challenging the winner between Zverev and Ruud. Sinner will console himself on Monday when he will officially be number one in the world rankings.

Sinner starts well, doesn’t miss a beat and in just 41 minutes wins the first set (6-2). The second set starts badly for Alcaraz who immediately loses serve, while Sinner keeps his serve: 2-0. The blue, however, gets into difficulty as the minutes pass, he appears much less precise than before and no longer guesses anything. Alcaraz takes advantage of this to break his serve twice and take the lead at 5-2. Only after five games, Sinner manages to break his opponent’s hegemony and reduce the distance: 5-3. The Spaniard wins the set (6-3) after 44 minutes. The third set sees the South Tyrolean go 1-0 but Alcaraz holds the serve and makes it 1-1. The Spaniard seems to have an edge and with a splendid pass, he makes the break and takes the lead 2-1. Finally comes the reaction of the blue who with a great response makes the counterbreak, going to 2-2, and then keeps his turn at serve taking it to 3-2. Sinner, however, doesn’t stop anymore, he suffers, he doesn’t give up, he makes another break and then goes up 5-2. Alcaraz closes the gap but the Italian closes the third set in his favor (6-3) in 59 minutes.

The fourth unfolds on the wave of balance: whoever serves takes home the game. The turning point came in the tenth game when Alcaraz broke serve and won the set 6-4 after 48 minutes of fighting. In the fifth set, the Spaniard takes over, thanks to an evident physical decline of the blue, and goes 3-0. Sinner takes a proud shot and takes the lead to 3-1 but Alcaraz is relentless and makes very few mistakes. He finishes 6-3, after 54 minutes, for ‘Carlito’ who on Sunday dreams of winning the third Slam of his career after winning the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023.
