Stop the trial and green light for a re-education project. The juvenile court of Florence has ordered “the test” for the nine boys, aged 16 and 17accused, for various reasons, of sexual assault on two twelve-year-oldsand production, detention and dissemination of child pornography films.
The matter exploded in July 2023, when the nine teenagers, with regular lives and families, were reported at the end of the postal police investigation.
The scenes were filmed with cell phones by some participants. The videos bounced from a social profile to a WhatsApp chat.
The investigations
The investigations began. The two twelve-year-olds never filed a complaint. But they told investigators what happened that evening when they were convinced by the party organizer to tell the other participants to be “older”. Then came the request for indictment from the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. And in recent days, during the preliminary hearing the judges, at the request of the defenders, ordered the test.
Now it is up to the Social Services office for minors to establish whether the nine boys will have to carry out voluntary work and have interviews with the psychologist. If they complete the trial period successfully, the crime for them will be declared extinguished with sentence from the juvenile court.
The chat
For days, the investigations have reconstructed, the group of nine boys and eight girls had been organizing the New Year’s Eve party. There was no shortage of Whatsapp chat to divide tasks in view of New Year’s Eve, as later discovered by the post. «We have fun at all costs, you’ll see», someone wrote. «Who brings smokes?». And then: «There’s something to drink, right?». The immediate response: “There will be as much as you want.” «Please note: condoms», someone underlined. «Ah, but why do they even have to be bought?» another member of the group asked. “You’re all crazy,” one girl commented.
From the investigations it emerges that they were all aware that the party would be based on alcohol, smoking and sex. That evening, due to the effects of spirits, hashish and marijuana, some would have had sexual intercourse, in secluded areas of the house and in the presence of the other guests. Legal sexual acts between minors, by law, only if they consent and if the youngest is at least 13 years old.
