a 48 year old Albanian arrested for attempted murder

VIGEVANO – It was the family of the wounded man, barricaded in their house, who called 112, as well as the residents alarmed by the sound of the shots. Outside the door stood the man who would later be arrested for attempted murder. He was brandishing a heavy bricklayer’s hammer and trying to break down the armored door. There were moments of terror in Vigevano on Monday shortly after 6pm, in via Gravellona. A peripheral road, very busy. A 56-year-old man of Egyptian origin lives in a block of flats upstairs. Below him was 48-year-old Dritan Qafa, an Albanian bricklayer. The two had been arguing for some time, perhaps due to noises at night, and the police had already intervened several times. Yesterday another discussion, the most violent. The 48-year-old grabbed a 9 mm CZ 24 semi-automatic war pistol, illegally held, went up and fired several shots at the neighbor. The latter, despite being grazed in the head, managed to escape into the house, chased by the other, who shot again without, fortunately, managing to hit the mark.
The criminal then went upstairs. Locked in the apartment, terrified, were the Egyptian’s wife, two daughters and his four-month-old granddaughter. Meanwhile, the carabinieri from the mobile radio unit, from the Vigevano company and the state police arrived. They blocked traffic and negotiations began with the Albanian, holed up in the courtyard. He asked to speak to a soldier from the operational unit, himself and no one else, as he was “known”. The superintendent was not on duty but arrived anyway, breaking the deadlock. The 48-year-old gave up and handed himself in without putting up any further resistance. In addition to the gun with one round still in the chamber, two shell casings and seven other unexploded cartridges were found. Material seized. The victim, transported under code red to the San Matteo polyclinic in Pavia, will get away with a 21-day prognosis. The man who shot, with a history, was taken to prison in Pavia on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.
