Asti, the names of the winners at the Carabinieri Festival

During the ceremony for the anniversary of the foundation of the Carabinieri which was held this morning at the Asti Headquarters, (here the results of a year of activity presented by Commander Lando) commendations were awarded to the men who particularly distinguished in the operations they conducted.

All the rewards were delivered by the Prefect Claudio Ventrice in the presence of the commander Colonel Paolo Lando.

For a long and complex investigation into thefts and robberies in houses inhabited by elderly people which developed in Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna in several phases, the commendation was awarded to Captain Armando Laviola, Marshal Andrea Gnagni, Brigadiers Stefano Inversini and Francesco Carone, the selected officers Gianluca Conte and Daniele Piglione.

The motivations for the awards also include an international perspective, with the awarding of praise to Vice Brigadier Claudio Ghiga serving in the MSU regiment of the NATO -KFOR mission in Kosovo who distinguished himself in carrying out his duties at the Tactical Operation Center as an operator .

The Commander of the Carabinieri Legion of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta recognized the excellence of the work of the Carabinieri in the intervention on an attempted suicide in Nice which occurred in July last year. Marshal Major Nicola Morfino, commander of the Nice station, and three of his men received praise for how they managed the moments of tension resulting from the desire of a man barricaded in the house, armed with knives to want to commit suicide and at the same time also throwing objects out of the window on passers-by. Along with Commander Morfino, Marshal Andrea Bertocchi, Deputy Brigadier Vincenzo Aurucci and Carabiniere Carlo Zuccherino were also awarded.

Award for two years of intense investigative activity to Marshal Roberto Giuso, commander of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of Nice for the numerous operations to protect the forestry, wildlife and landscape heritage of the area.

This year, a civilian also received praise, Roberto Gianotti, an employee of the Ministry of Defense. The motivation is aimed at his experience and reliability which have placed him as a point of reference for colleagues and hierarchical superiors.

And, finally, the most coveted prize for those who choose to become a carabiniere, the one that bears the name of Giovanni Battista Scapaccino, from Asti, who with his sacrifice brought the first gold medal for military valor to the flag of the force.

It is awarded to the person who best embodies the figure of the policeman, bringing together professionalism, seriousness, humanity and institutional commitment. This year it went to the selected officer Francesco Galli.

Particularly moving was the video that was shown in which famous TV personalities revealed that they were the sons of carabinieri and gave testimony to the pride of this lineage: the actor and voice actor Francesco Pannofino, the actor and comedian Luca Bizzarri, the actor and director Franco Nero, the cyclist and TV face Vittorio Brumotti. They all told anecdotes relating to their carabinieri fathers, their attachment to the force and the values ​​transmitted.
