We have now entered the hottest time of the year at Pistoia Basket. The hands of the clock now point to a day and a little more until the tap-off of Game 1 of the play-off quarterfinals against Brescia. And there is no shortage of enthusiasm in the area either Pistoia Basket City Consortium, after a season in which each member of the group assiduously followed and rejoiced together with all the red and white fans. And the joy for a truly surprising result is also shared by Simone Bongi of Siriusa telecommunications company that has been alongside the via Fermi club for years and has just opened a collaboration with the Chinese multinational Huawei.
“A season beyond all expectations – Bongi began – The credit undoubtedly goes to the coach and the team. Looking back at the beginning of this championship, you could see that it was there a good starting pointbut we can’t imagine a similar result from here.”

DESERVED EMOTIONS AND NOMINATIONS
As mentioned, this year was a gift many satisfactions to those who care about red and white colors. A whirlwind of emotions that led tod a climb up the rankings and truly unforgettable evenings. And, as if that wasn’t enough, different nominations for seasonal tops for several members of the roster and coaching staff. On these aspects, Bongi has few doubts.
“There have been lots of emotionsi in recent months but, if I had to choose, one of the most beautiful was undoubtedly the comeback victory at Virtus Bologna. One of several away successes this season: a true paradox for a team and an environment which, by tradition, he has always played better within friendly walls. Coach Brienza? It is undoubtedly worth it the coach of the year award: with the lowest budget in Serie A he achieved the best result. Proud that they are there Moore and Willis among the MVP candidatesbut in my opinion that of Ogbeide, who was our pivot under the basket, it is a serious shortcoming».
THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
Agreed that the season is far from over, but the last months at Pistoia Basket and even within the Consortium they were anything but trivial. The entry of American investors led by Ron Rowan has actually started an unpublished chapter for Pistoia and for the entire local basketball. In short, the future remains to be written it is open to multiple scenarios. And in this future there will continue to be the Consortium and, in particular, Sirius: always the word of Simone Bongi.
“Personally I have always been open to changes: they break the status quo and give new perspectives. This is a major change, but who takes over now must earn trust. Of course, the entry of an international team it can open up so many possibilities: time will tell whether it will be a new beginning or a continuation of the path for the better. For now I want to concentrate about the present and the play-offs. But I also want to underline the contribution that the Pistoia Basket City Consortium has given to achieve these results, consistently providing his support and resources. Like Sirius, as consortium members and as partners of the club we stand by the company and we are actually organizing an ad hoc event in view of Race-3with an award ceremony that will take place halfway through the game.”
