“Don’t say anything, they’ll attack me”. “Don’t say anything or they’ll arrest me.” It’s the sentence that a 13-year-old girl recorded after being molested by a school worker 65 years old inside the Taurianova middle school (Reggio Calabria). On charges of aggravated sexual assault on a minorthe investigating judge Anna Laura Ascioti suspended him from service, removing him from the institute and accepting the request formulated by the prosecutor of the Republic of Palmi, Emanuele Crescenti, and by the deputy prosecutor Letterio De Domenico.

The story dates back to 2023 when, according to the Carabinieri’s investigations, the school employee followed a 13 year old student in the school bathrooms and, after having blocked her every escape route, he molested her, telling her not to say anything. The girl, however, had the readiness to record, with her cell phone, the threats suffered after the sexual violence and after confiding in some close friends and parents. Her parents then accompanied the young girl to the police: she gave them the audio and told what happened in the school bathrooms.

Hence the investigation, conducted by the military personnel, which led to the precautionary measure of suspension of the school assistant from service. According to the reconstruction of the investigators, during the afternoon activities, the suspect first began to address appreciation to the thirteen year old and then start following her as she moves along the corridors. A situation that continued for months, until the episode occurred during a break from lessons when the school assistant followed the student into the bathrooms and, according to her accusation, molested her.

“We found that the girl presented herself to the police together with her family and parents and this is an extremely positive fact – is the comment of the Palmi prosecutor Emanuele Crescenti – There is a tendency to follow the path of the institutions in order to have legal protection and not hide the facts or, worse, seek private revenge. The disqualification was granted by the investigating judge to the extent and time we requested, the maximum time being one year of suspension from service. This is the maximum that the law provides for these facts.” “The girl – concludes the magistrate – she had her cell phone with her and managed to activate it. What comes out concretely is ‘don’t talk otherwise they’ll arrest me’. The school also collaborated with us as did the girl’s friends to whom she had confided about the facts. They too confirmed the facts.”
