It was presented to the Civic Library “F. Pometti” the new City Library System, whose Regulation was recently approved by the Municipal Council of the City of Corigliano-Rossano. During the meeting we talked about the project called “Pometti Library Enhancement and Promotion Project” of renovation of the F. Pometti Library, affected by regional funding of 60 thousand euros non-repayable with Por Calabria Fesr-Fse funds 2014-2020 Axis 6 – Action 6.8.3 Public Notice Support Measures for Libraries and Public Historical Archives 2023.
In addition to having presented the new Regulations of the Municipal Library System, composed of the “Francesco Pometti” Library, the “Giorgio Leone” Library of Rossano and the “Carmine De Luca” Library for children of Corigliano Scalo, it was the new digital library service was also presented.
That is, the service Medialibraryoline (MLOL), a digital lending platform with the largest collection of content for all Italian libraries through which it is possible to access ebooks from the major Italian publishers and on national and international newsstands for free.
The service is aimed at members of city libraries, according to the following methods:
- Registration – contact the Libraries;
- Access username and password will be communicated via email;
- Download the following Apps on your phone/smartphone/tablet:
- PressReader (Newsstand)
- Mlol Ebook Reader (Ebook)
- The first access to the newsstand is made from the site: https://www.medialibrary.it/home/index.aspx where you must register by selecting the “Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano” body and entering the credentials received via email (sign. in);
- For the first access to the Ebook you need to have the app code that the library will provide and which can also be found in the Account – my data section of the site. The App Code must be entered the first time you access the Ebook from your phone/smartphone/tablet.
From the new Pometti Library website, new services are also available for the over 6000 foreigners who live in Corigliano-Rossano and who will now be able to read newspapers in their language. It is an inclusive service like the entire project which was developed with the precious contribution of some associations, which always allows us to respond to the needs of a continuously growing and changing city, and of the people of the Civil Service.
Today Pometti can boast, thanks to new acquisitions, well over 4000 more books available of all its users of Corigliano-Rossano, awarded by Cepell, the Center for Books and Reading, with the title of “City that Reads”, achieved for all the initiatives and improvements of the city library system.
A project, that of Pometti, which is also based on the refunctionalisation of the spaces, given that all the furnishings have been improved to make both lending and consultation more hospitable and easier, not only digitally, also expanding the technological equipment on site. The new books also include publications in Braille and for cognitive diversity.
A meeting point has been created for schools, which will be able to carry out laboratory activities, for young and old for those who love reading and for raising awareness of culture and the meeting of different cultures in Corigliano-Rossano, which today can boast a growing library system.
The presentation was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Alessia Alboresithe manager of the Programming Department, Giovanni Soda, the official Programming Department, Giuseppe De Caro, and the manager of the “F. Pometti”, Angela Lo Prete.
