It’s an important Thursday at Genoa, especially for Mister Konko’s Under 16s. The rossoblù born in 2008 will play the first leg of the round of 16 of the Under 16 Championship in Begato, with kick-off at 3pm.
At the end of the group stage, the rossoblù came out on top third best fifth place (38 points) and found themselves paired withEmpoli by mister Davide Moro. The Tuscan team was the second best in first place. Due to these placings, Genoa will play the first leg at home, while Empoli will benefit from the home factor in the return match.
The Regulations of the final phase are clear and indicate that Genoa will above all need to win: “At the end of the home and away matches, the teams that have obtained the highest number of points will qualify for the quarter-finals (3 points for a victory, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat); in the event of a tie, the goal difference is taken into account to determine the winning team; in the event of a further tie, the teams with the best placing will qualify” at the end of the group stage. Empoli, in this sense, starts from an advantageous position. Present in the stands is the head of the Genoa youth sector, Michele Sbravati.
