Republic Day, wreaths at the war memorials in Fiumicino

Mayor Mario Baccini, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic, proclaimed on 2 June 1946, marched in the parade along the Imperial Forums culminating in Piazza Venezia, in the presence of the highest officials of the State.

“I participated with immense pride in the Imperial Forum parade – said the mayor – a ceremony which represents the heart of our national identity and which reminds us of the importance of the democratic values ​​on which the Republic is founded. The laying of the laurel wreath on the Unknown Soldier reminded us of the sacrifices of our ancestors to make Italy a free country. The participation of the various armed forces, united under the tricolour, testified to the cohesion and dedication of the men and women who work, every day, for the security and well-being of the nation”.

The municipal administration of Fiumicino will celebrate the Republic Day at 5.00 pm in Piazza GB Grassi where a wreath will be laid at the War Memorial. At 6.30pm in the square of the parish of Santa Maria Madre della Divina Provvidenza, at Isola Sacra, a wreath will be placed on the stele in memory of the fallen. Furthermore, the Long weekend of June 2ndone of the main symbols of our city, will be in the evening illuminated with the colors of the Italian flag.
