On Sunday 19 May, from 10am to 6.30pm, the Parco della Resistenza in Cuneo will host the second edition of the “Birth Festival: a party to grow”, a day of meetings and recreational activities developed within the “Culture” project 0/6: growing with care” promoted by the Municipality of Cuneo, in collaboration with Compagnia Il Melarancio and supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation.

The day will be an important opportunity to promote knowledge of the cultural, educational, social and health resources available to families, for the well-being and growth of girls and boys from early childhood. In continuity with the actions envisaged by the project, particular attention will be given to families with children aged 0-6 years, but the invitation to participate is extended to all families, including future ones. In case of bad weather the event will take place in the spaces of the 0-18 Library, the former Church of San Francesco and under the canopy of Piazza Virginio.

The idea behind the day is to create a collective ritual, capable of generating meeting and sharing between families and operators – say the organizers – . In the park there will be a picnic area where families can have lunch freely, a rest area and some play areas. The afternoon includes two key moments, the shared snack, which will also represent a moment of information on correct nutrition and the final participatory event organized by the Il Melarancio Company. The invitation we extend to all families is to spend a day of sharing, equipping themselves with plaids, a packed lunch to spend a Sunday in the company of the project and its proposals”.

The initiative was born from the alliance between the Municipality of Cuneo, Compagnia Il Melarancio, Sistema Infanzia, ASL CN1, Azienda Ospedaliera Santa Croce e Carle, Social Welfare Consortium of Cuneo and involves a network of 35 partners belonging to the world of public and private social and cultural.

The program includes numerous discovery and in-depth activities: from music to theatre, from readings to creativity, workshops and information spaces managed by the local health system and dedicated to growth and services for early childhood. During the festival the Resistance Park will be populated with four thematic archipelagos: culture, education, community and healthcare. Each island will host public and private entities and entities that will offer workshops, free activities for children and parents (including future ones) and in-depth studies for adults. A large space will be reserved for the Early Childhood System of the Municipality of Cuneo which involves the collaboration of all the services of the municipal nursery schools and state and private nursery schools, offering children and their families additional initiatives and services, training for operators and promoting a culture for children. In the cultural field there will be the 0-18 Library, the Civic Museums and the Diocesan Museum, with workshops and discovery activities aimed at the little ones. The same “island” will host activities proposed by the main projects active on the theme of promoting cultural enjoyment from early childhood such as Nati per Leggere (with the Ambassadors of Stories), Nati con la Cultura (with the Cultural Passport), Nati con la Musica (cuddles in music).

It is important to underline that the Birth Celebration is not simply an event, but the outcome of a collaborative process which in these first months of the year has actively involved, with periodic meetings, the subjects participating in the Cultura 0/6 project – conclude the organizers – . Compared to last year, we decided to include a subtitle that is very significant for us: a party to grow together. The entire process of creating the event, in fact, is proving to be fundamental to increasingly strengthen the sense of belonging, involvement and co-planning capacity of our community of practice”.

The complete program of the day will be available on the website of the Municipality of Cuneo, in the section dedicated to the project “Cultura 0/6: growing with care” (by clicking here).

The Birth Celebration in Cuneo is part of the national system program conceived by the Cultural Welfare Center and developed in collaboration with Abbonamento Musei, the Women’s Friendly Medicine Foundation.
