BRINDISI – In his photos the blue of the sea blends with the blue of the sky, giving an unrepeatable charm to the port of Brindisi. Stefano Piccirillo was a policeman with a great talent for the art of photography. His heart stopped beating last night (Thursday 9 May), at just 44 years old, due to leukemia. His illness tore him away from the affection of his wife, his beloved daughter, his parents and his sister.

Particularly known and respected for his commitment to the Immigration office of the Brindisi police station, in the past he had also served in the Naples police force. A good and genuine person, he had a very strong bond with his city. This is demonstrated by the heartbreakingly beautiful shots published on his Facebook profile.

His favorite subject was the port. She immortalized it from the top of the Roman columns and the Monument to the Sailor, from the Regina Margherita seafront and from the bank of the Casale district. The sea and the sky, with various shades of blue, are the protagonists of his shots. His passion was at the service of the city. And the people of Brindisi (even those who didn’t know him personally) are paying homage to him, with dozens of messages posted on social media. BrindisiReport, in the gallery accompanying the article, shows some of his snapshots.

Piccirillo’s funeral will take place tomorrow (Friday 10 May), at 9.30 am, at the Cathedral Basilica.
