Sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia, from Siena to Rapolano Terme

Route of only 62.8 km, but dirt sections for 12 kilometers and with a challenging finish

Giro d’Italia 2024, today the sixth stage runs from Siena to Rapolano Terme, for a total of 62.8 km of which 12 are dirt roads. Departure at 12.20pm.

Stage 6, Torre del Lago Puccini (Viareggio)-Rapolano Terme, 180 km
Path
Challenging stage particularly characterized by three dirt sectors for a total of almost 12 km.
The first two are in common with the Strade Bianche, the third is new.
First flat part in the Pisan hinterland up to Volterra.
Once you enter the Siena area, you face the Vidritta dirt sector which, compared to the Strade Bianche, is 2 km longer and connects, less than a few hundred meters of asphalt, to the Bagnaia stretch.
The latter presents gradients of up to 15% and, in Grotti, the second GPM of the day.
Before Asciano you travel through the third sector of Pievina which takes place mainly on the ridge with continuous short ups and downs.
Very challenging finale with the Serre di Rapolano wall.

Last km
The last km is structured with curves and ups and downs. Of note, about 5 km from the finish, is the Serre di Rapolano climb which has gradients of up to 20% at the end. Final straight line of 450 m on asphalt, 6 m wide, with a gradient of around 6%.
