On Wednesday 8 May, in the prison in via delle Casermette, two smartphones and 22 grams of hashish were found inside the cells and six rudimentary ropes on a roof thanks to an extraordinary search carried out by the Penitentiary Police, who intervened together with the Avellino dog units .
“Once again the Meloni Government shows enormous attention to the issues of legality and safety, as has not been seen for some time, and absolute concreteness in implementation. A real change of pace, as Undersecretary Delmastro had guaranteed, during his institutional visit to the Foggia institute last 16 October” comments deputy Giandonato La Salandra, member of the Justice Commission in the Chamber of Deputies.
Of the 366 inmates checked, six were reported to the Prosecutor’s Office. The important operation concerned both the new complex and the old judicial complex of the Foggia district prison: “Applause to the Undersecretary of State for Justice Andrea Delmastro delle Vedove, who announced this and who took the security situation in our prison to heart right from the start, concretely following up on the commitments made during his last visit to the city, in October 2023″.
“The operation conducted by the Penitentiary Police made it possible to restore order and legality in the departments concerned, preventing the establishment of criminal hierarchies in prison and guaranteeing the necessary safety for the inmate population and those who work there. With the Meloni Government, no more gray areas of illegality and insecurity!” says Andrea Delmastro delle Vedove.
