Coastal strip of Giugliano, checks and high-impact operations on the increase after the latest home burglaries

coastal strip home burglaries

The meeting of the public order and safety committee was held today at 12pm, chaired by the Prefect of Naples Michele Di Bari and also attended by the mayor of Giugliano, Nicola Pirozzi.

The problem of security was discussed in the municipality of Giugliano in Campania, especially after the latest cases of thefts in houses along the coastal strip. Yesterday, on the occasion of the inauguration of the nature trail of the archaeological park of Liternum in which the governor of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca took part, a group of citizens gave rise to a civil protest to denounce the lack of security and checks in the area.

Thefts in houses on the coastal strip of Giugliano will increase high-impact operations after the latest episodes

These are the words of Mayor Pirozzi at the end of the meeting:

“The Order and Public Security Committee on the events in Giugliano requested by his Excellency, the Prefect of Naples, has just ended, after our constant meetings on security in our city and also by virtue of yesterday’s civil protest by the citizens of Giugliano, in the presence of the President of the Campania Region, Enzo De Luca, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Liternum Park.

The Committee meeting, in continuity with what has already been decided during past meetings, within an institutional discussion and collaboration which also saw the city administration as protagonist, produced a decision in line with what has already been implemented for months: even more “High Impact” operations on our territory.

I thank the Prefect of Naples and the police forces for their constant and continuous attention, throughout the entire process of listening to the needs of the territory I represent; I thank them because for months already the checks have increased, just as the attention towards Giugliano has increased; Despite this, I asked at today’s table to convene another meeting of the Public Order and Security Committee in the presence of the Giugliano Committee and the citizens who raised the problem with great courtesy. A necessary discussion also for the further measures to be adopted and to make the relationship between residents and institutions increasingly stronger.

The situation is difficult, we know it and we are on track, within the limits of the powers granted to us by the law. And you have to have faith because the attention of the Prefect and the police is very high.”
