Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio will receive the gold medal of the City of Bergamo: the Council of the Municipality of Bergamo approved on the afternoon of Monday 27 May the resolution formalizing the recognition and delivery will take place on Friday 31 May in the council chamber of Palazzo Frizzoni, on the occasion of an extraordinary municipal council meeting (entry by invitation).
Traditionally, the city’s civic merits and gold medals are recognized at the end of the year: the Municipality has decided to bring forward the delivery of the honour, with a decision dictated by the amazing sporting success achieved last week in Dublin – where the Nerazzurri beat Bayer Leverkusen to win the UEFA Europa League, one of the greatest continental football titles – and to make the delivery coincide with the day of the continental title celebrations, placing the institutional celebration alongside the celebration of the Atalanta people scheduled for the same evening.

Atalanta is historically the main and most important team in the city and territory of Bergamo: it boasts a close and extraordinary bond not only with the city, but also with the rest of the provincial area. In the last 8 years, thanks to the fortunate and virtuous management of Percassi/Gasperini, the team has achieved results never achieved before with notable continuity, achieving 4 qualifications for the UEFA Champions League – Europe’s top football competition -, coming close to reaching the top of the Serie A standings. A, reaching the Italian Cup final 3 times and winning – as the first Italian team – the UEFA Europa League in the 2023/24 season.
