“The heart of the woman”, convivial Rotary Piacenza dedicated to women’s health

Last Monday 20 May, at the headquarters of the Piacenza Rotary Club at the Grande Albergo Roma, the twenty-third convivial of the Club took place, dedicated to the report entitled “The heart of women: reflections on the burden of cardiac disease in women”. The event featured prof. Massimo Piepoli, Rotary Piacenza member, and the illustrious guest, Dr. Serenella Castelvecchio.

The evening was introduced by president Luigi Swich, who created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, remembering that this would be the last convivial of the Rotary year at the Grande Albergo Roma.

The president then proudly presented the profile of the prof. Massimo Piepoli, an eminent cardiologist and associate professor at the University of Milan, as well as vice president of the European Society of Cardiology. Doctor Serenella Castelvecchio, a cardiologist with great experience and dedication in the study of ischemic heart disease, was the other protagonist of the evening. Currently, Castelvecchio directs the cardiovascular prevention and gender medicine program at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, with a particular focus on cardiovascular and metabolic prevention in women. Both speakers boast numerous scientific publications in highly prestigious international journals.

Doctor Castelvecchio exposed with passion and competence the many facets of the female heart, highlighting how prevention plays a crucial role today and will do so increasingly in the coming decades, especially in the female cardiovascular field.

The Doctor presented a series of scientific studies of international importance, of which she is often first author, which analyze in depth the problems of the cardiovascular system. You underlined how cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of death among women, making greater awareness and awareness essential both among professionals in the sector and in the general population.

In particular, she illustrated the initiatives implemented to increase awareness and knowledge of these issues among women. She is Principal Investigator of the “Call for Women-CALLme project”, an authoritative initiative that promotes research on female cardiovascular health.
