AVERSA – The center-left has chosen Professor Mauro Baldascino as its candidate for mayor for the next elections. This was announced in a statement from the city department of the PD: “The center-left table of Aversa, at the end of a long process of establishing and defining values and projects, formalized this morning, through the local representatives of the coalition, the proposal to candidacy for mayor of Professor Mauro Baldascino.
The candidate in pectore said he was available and asked to be able to have a round of individual bilateral meetings with the coalition forces in the next few hours before accepting the position”.
A candidacy that is also supported by the outgoing mayor Alfonso Golia, who announces his ‘step aside’ in this way: Re-applying as Mayor of Aversa was the most obvious, consequential and logical choice. But I never felt like the lone man in charge, much less the center of the world. I believe in participation and sharing, the latter I consider fundamental in politics. This is why I took a “sideways step”: to work and create the conditions for a united center-left that was a synthesis of values and not interests and I did this despite being aware that giving up putting myself forward again as a candidate for Mayor would have been a very painful choice. for me and for the group of friends with whom we have lived these intense years of administration and for many of you. My commitment and my love for the city continue together with the civic movement “La Politica che Serve”, for which I ask everyone for electoral support and participation, a united group that stays together not for gain, but to build the best possible future for Aversa. With honesty, rigor, transparency and fairness.
Principles that have been the basis of my years as Mayor and at the same time values that I see in Mauro Baldascino, an exponent of the world of associations who has been committed for years to the promotion of legality in the fight against widespread forms of crime. Mauro will represent the center-left in the next elections and we will work hard to ensure that he is the next Mayor of Aversa.
Now I can dedicate greater attention and presence to my family together with my wife Carolina. My daughter Annalucia was born when I was elected Mayor in 2019 and I missed very important years of her growth, the same was happening with little Gennaro. Those who have young children will understand me, just as I hope you will all understand the political motivations.
