With 90 minutes to go, the Serie B championship has not yet given all its verdicts. Como, drawing in Modena, have not yet secured their ticket to Serie A because Venezia – victorious at home against FeralpiSalò – dropped to -2. Como therefore must win against Cosenza – already safe – at the “Sinigaglia” next Friday while Venezia, on stage on the pitch of a Spezia team which is not yet mathematically safe and needs at least one point to avoid the playouts. Como needs the 3 points because if they finish on equal points, Venezia would have an advantage in the direct clashes.
The most intricate situation concerns precisely the struggle for salvation. Spezia – at 41 points -, with the draw in Cosenza, retains just one point ahead of Ternana, victorious against Catanzaro. Behind the rossoverdi, still tied on 38 points, are Bari and Ascoli. Everything will be decided on the last day with Spezia-Venice; FeralpiSalò-Ternana; Bari-Brescia and Ascoli-Pisa. Bari, in the event of finishing on equal points, has an advantage over Ascoli in the direct clashes and consequently the Marches would be relegated. The Apulians would instead play the playouts against Ternana or Spezia. If Spezia loses against Venezia they risk finishing three to 41 (Bari, Ascoli and Spezia) if Ternana wins at Feralpi. In this case Ascoli would be relegated with Bari and Spezia in the playouts. FeralpiSalò is mathematically relegated to Serie C.
In the playoff area we already have the six teams that will play them. Venezia, if they don’t overtake Como, are already sure of third place, as are Cremonese of fourth and Catanzaro of fifth. Sixth, seventh and eighth positions remain to be established but we already know that it will be decided between Palermo, Sampdoria and Brescia. Palermo, currently sixth on 53 points, plays on the Sudtirol pitch on Friday and could be overtaken by Sampdoria (playing in Catanzaro), who trail by just one point, and also by Brescia (who will play in Bari), eighth today on 51 points. .
