The chronicle of the playoff between Petrarca and Mogliano

It is Petrarca who wants to make things clear and start strong straight away, in fact the ball and opportunities in the first 30 minutes are all in the hands of the Tuttineri. In the 10th minute the home team manages to make the most of their possession: on the left, first Broggin’s percussion puts the Paduans on the forward foot, Tebaldi quickly passes to his teammate Fernandez, who beats his direct opponent and can go to dunk near the poles. The transformation was therefore easy for De Sanctis, bringing the score to 7-0.

Mogliano has no ideas to leave his own half of the pitch and take command of the match from Petrarca, who actually continues to create opportunities. First in the 20th minute De Sanctis accelerates dangerously but miscalculates the decisive pass to Fou; a few minutes later, however, he does everything on his own and well, piercing the Bianconeri’s defense and finding the second goal for the home team.

A solitary attempt by Mogliano in the 25th minute was contained by Petrarca who shortly after found the third mark, again thanks to the usual Fernandez and De Sanctis: on the left in the narrow area the midfielder absorbs two opponents, manages to unload the ball for the fullback who on the edge of the sideline press at the height of the flag. There is no conversion but in the 30th minute the scoreboard reads 17-0 for the Tuttineri.

Before going to the changing rooms, however, the guests manage to find a burst of pride and remove the “zero” from the scoreboard. It is Zanandrea who scores on the right in the 35th minute, but she has to thank Dal Zilio’s offload which allows not only to keep the oval alive but also to find numerical superiority offshore. Precise Ferraris, the first half ends at 17-7.

Once the second half began, Petrarca took little time to find the offensive bonus. This time the goal arrives with the charges of the forwards, and it is Casolari who finds the decisive impact. Having reached the goal of the fourth try and with a score of 24-7, the match saw Mogliano try to build something more, but the home team always held a more than reassuring lead.

First it was Ceccato who struck for Mogliano in the 53rd minute and then the substitute Marini in the 68th minute, both converted by Ferrarin. The two opposing tries, however, do not worry Petrarca also thanks to the marking found by Montilla from the maul, with the support of Brugnara in push. Fernandez did not miss the two points with his foot, and the second match of group 2 of the Serie A Elite playoffs ended at 31-21.
