The Bersaglieri illuminate the Marche, maxi final parade in front of the Meloni. The peace hat was given to the Prime Minister

ASCOLI PICENO – Applause, emotion, gratitude. This could be felt in the heart of Ascoli Piceno. But this was felt yesterday in Amandola, Porto San Giorgio, Porto Sant’Elidio and everywhere the Bersaglieri brought their joyful rhythm.

For the national rally in the Piceno capital, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived and entered Piazza Arringo, mentioning, together with the mayor Marco Fioravanti, the Bersaglieri race. To welcome her, in addition to a large crowd and the Bersaglieri, were the children of the Collodi nursery school who presented the Prime Minister with the “peace hat”.

There were more than 12 thousand hats with feathers for the final parade of the 71st meeting of the National Bersaglieri Association which, after the experiences of 1996 and 2004, chose the city of the ‘hundred towers’ to celebrate its hundredth birthday . Over 35 thousand Bersaglieri have been involved since 2 May when the rally began and found a home in the municipalities of the provinces of Ascoli, Fermo, Macerata, Teramo and also in Amatrice. Considering the relatives, there are 100 thousand guaranteed attendances.

Over 50 brass bands from all over Italy then marched in Ascoli between two wings of the crowd along a two kilometer route. An elderly Bersagliere paraded barefoot, along with many children and teenagers. Everything went well from the point of view of public order, the coordination which saw the Ferno disaster manager Francesco Lusek as protagonist was also excellent.

In particular, the complex organization had to manage the correct massing of the rallies, not without difficulty, given that the access roads to the Piceno capital were clogged with buses and cars. In the end all the participants reached Ascoli and took part in the event. At the end of the event there was the ceremony of the passing of the “cue” from the mayor of Ascoli Piceno Marco Fioravanti to that of Marsala Massimo Grillo. In fact, the Sicilian city will host the 72nd meeting of the National Bersaglieri Association in 2025.

The president of the Marche Region Francesco Acquaroli thanked the national Bersaglieri association by speaking in the square in front of the undersecretary of Defense Isabella Rauti: “I thank you for the emotions you have given to our community. On the sidelines of the gathering, the president of the region, the mayor and Meloni spent time inside the Caffè Meletti, one of the most beautiful in Italy, to review construction sites and the needs of a region that needs support and investments .
