Children’s Mini-Olympics 2024 organized by CSI Perugia

The Italian Sports Center (CSI) of Perugia has once again hit the mark with the 34th edition of the Children’s Mini-Olympics. This event, which saw sport and friendship as protagonists, took place at the Santa Giuliana Stadium, confirming its great success. Around 400 children and teenagers gathered to spend an afternoon of celebration and sport in the spirit of friendship. Numerous local schools, invited by the Perugia Committee, participated in the end-of-year event, thus affirming the opinion of the CSI managers.

The demonstration respected completely the Olympic spirit, with an initial parade, the lighting of the brazier and the opening declaration. The Children’s Mini-Olympics has now become one of the association’s most significant events aimed at young people. The schools involved included primary and secondary schools in Perugia, along with several CSI-affiliated clubs dedicated to minivolleyball and minibasketball.

The excitement was palpable among the parents who, from the stands of the Santa Giuliana Stadium, cheered, rejoiced and applauded the young athletes as they competed in various competitive events such as the 60 meter dash, the long jump, the vortex throw and the relays. For the little ones, however, the entertainers of the Sports Center have organized a series of games on the grass. The event concluded with an exciting final relay. There was no shortage of color and joy, with flags, balloons and souvenir medals for everyone, to seal one of the most important events of the CSI Committee of Perugia. Representatives of the institutional authorities were also present, including representatives of the Province of Perugia and the Municipality, as well as the president of CONI Umbria, Domenico Ignozza.

Emanuela Papadia, Commissioner of the CSI Perugia, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the event, defining it “a wonderful opportunity for sporting and social comparison for young athletes”. He thanked the Municipality of Perugia for allowing the use of the Santa Giuliana Stadium and all the volunteers of the Perugia Committee for their constant commitment. In particular, he wanted to thank Paolo Scarponi, head of Youth CSI Perugia, for the love and dedication he puts into every event dedicated to very young people.
