FIDAPA Bpw Italy. Minors, Ugl Matera: “The affirmation of children’s rights is not complete”

“Although there are regulations in force relating to the fight against poverty, a tool of fundamental importance for our country and for the protection of minors and social inclusion, the Ugl reiterates the prohibition of any form of exploitation of minors and hopes for “education of children in understanding, peace and tolerance”.

Thus Pino Giordano, Provincial Secretary Ugl Matera and Maristella Pace, Zonal Manager Ugl Policoro taking part, upon welcome invitation, in the Conference organized by the Fidapa BPW Italy section of Policoro, in collaboration with the sections of Tursi, Salandra and Pisticci, with the theme ‘THE PROTECTION OF MINORS Defense of girls and young women, in Policoro in the packed conference room of the Hotel Hermès

“The appeal launched today by the organization – continue the trade unionists – through the report presented and discussed in Policoro (MT), must not go unheard: more than 30 million children and young people in Europe are at risk of social exclusion. One of the most serious consequences of this condition is educational poverty, which affects 1 in 5 European adolescents, deprived of the possibility of building a future full of opportunities. It is therefore necessary to act seriously in Italy in support of social policies and in the name of all those families involved in the infinite vortex of poverty. We have a delay in the application of essential levels of social benefits which weighs heavily on the shoulders of Italians. For the UGL, the affirmation of children’s rights – full of contradictions, ignorance and suffering, a non-linear history – has still not come to fruition today. Child welfare has considerable difficulty in developing: it is necessary to dedicate greater attention to children, not only by developing child care from a nutritional and health point of view, but also by looking at their educational and training development. With pleasure the Ugl gives its contribution to the event which offers food for thought on social policies – continue Pace and Giordano – wishing to compliment the already proven FIDAPA team for the passion and commitment shown over the years in its tireless work BPW Italy and in particular to the President of the Policoro Section, the Psychologist and Psychotherapist Asp Potenza Dr. Antonella Magno, for having given the possibility, thanks to the testimonies and analyzes of medical experts and authoritative interlocutors, to be able to once again turn the spotlight on the topic of protection of minors’ rights. For the Ugl Matera, these events need to be developed and promoted throughout our territory as Magno is excellently carrying out, reminding everyone that the Regional Guarantor for childhood and adolescence is in place and established at the Regional Council of Basilicata where the implementation of the individual and collective rights and interests of girls, boys and adolescents is ensured. The Matera Ugl – conclude Giordano and Pace – enthusiastic about the Fidapa event, remains always available to encourage the development of all thematic aspects by promoting listening and information initiatives aimed at children and adolescence in order to collect any complaints of violation of rights and provide information on how to protect and exercise the rights of minors”.
