Lighting, parking service and management of Darsena, Bottaro responds to Nigretti’s letter (Ad Amiu) – TraniLive.it

After the response of the lawyer Nigretti, CEO of Amet, on the controversy of the management of the parking service, the Darsena and public lighting, today the mayor of Trani Amedeo Bottaro wanted to respond to the CEO of the investee company with an official note .

“I have read the appeal of the lawyer. Nigretti CEO of Amet Spa. Meanwhile, I am pleased to note that the corporate spirit that emerged during the evaluation phase in the formation of the new Board of Directors has always remained alive. The new data, which I take note of, which emerges from the heartfelt appeal addressed to the municipal administration as well as to myself, is a hasty analysis of the issues and an impatient need to express the work being carried out. In fact, it would have been enough to take a little more time to study and understand the reasons for the interruption of the parking service and the management of the dock in favor of Amet. I don’t think there is a single mayor or administration that doesn’t want to entrust works and services to valid, capable and above all owned companies and businesses. Just as I don’t believe there are mayors and managers who intend to carry out acts in violation of the law. In fact, if the CEO had dedicated more time to the analysis, he could have endorsed the findings of the MEF inspectors who highlighted how from 2007 to today “both the initial assignments and the extended reassignments to Amet have been carried out in violation of law under various profiles”.

Basically, as I have already highlighted for some time, the MEF has also underlined that these assignments cannot be carried out in favor of Amet Spa as the latter is not an in-house company and does not have the requirements. Therefore the interruption becomes mandatory to proceed with the holding of public tenders for the awarding of the services in question in which Amet could participate like any other company. Rather, what the city community expects from the new governance of Amet is an improvement in the quality of the public services entrusted, bringing more value for the public good also in terms of profitability not exclusively for the benefit of the company but also and above all for the benefit of the community. As public administrators, we have the duty to maintain a great balance, in weighing public statements, judgments and positions, making choices which, despite being politically painful, are necessary because they are taken in accordance with legality.
