Emergency rooms are in constant trouble, hospitals without specialists, anaesthesia, resuscitation, orthopedics and radiology departments are in serious trouble, as are 118 and the ASL clinics and districts. It is the photograph of assistance in the health centers of Campania. All facilities have to deal with the lack of doctors, nurses and technicians.
As Il Mattino reports today, there are around 500 doctors from various disciplines who are missing in the emergency room wards and there are more than two thousand units with the rear departments: an army of white coats which double in number, almost touching five thousand with the empty boxes of nurses, technicians and social health workers (Oss). If we also count local medicine, including outpatient specialists, family medicine, medical services and basic paediatrics, the gap reaches and exceeds ten thousand units.
An emergency which obviously also affects the ASL Napoli 3 Sud. Just to give an example, at San Leonardo di Castellammare two specialists in Neurology, enrolled in the latest competition and called to work shifts in the emergency room, have resigned. It is not enough. In the entire ASL, only nine orthopedists work, including the head doctors, but there is also a lack of perfusionists. The ASL is looking for 45 specialists for the emergency room but also radiologists, anesthetists and paediatricians.
