CAMPOBASSO – The candidate for mayor of Cantiere civico, lawyer, intervenes on the destination of the D’Ovidio school in the Selva Piana district. Pino Ruta.

“For weeks, as is known, we have been denouncing the serious mistake of the municipal administration led by the 5S (now known as the “wide field” together with the PD) and the decision to want to transfer the D’Ovidio school to Selvapiana at all costs.

A completely wrong, botched choice that involves an enormous waste of public money (around 4 million euros!) for an inadequate and penalizing location for hundreds of students, families, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the related activities of the urban center of Campobasso .

For this reason, as a candidate for mayor of the Cantiere civico, collecting the requests of those (especially the users) who immediately expressed opposition to this solution, I proposed to the Administration to stop and immediately announce a public notice to find a property , located in the city center, with structural and functional characteristics suitable for school use. In fact, there is more than one option, as anyone can notice even just by taking a walk around the centre.

Conversely, the candidates Forte and De Benedittis, in great harmony with each other, strenuously defended the choice of Selvapiana, citing the safety of the pupils as their motivation (which is a sacrosanct priority but has absolutely nothing to do with the criticism we have addressed to the relocation to Selvapiana), highlighting, without even realizing it, that a neighborhood facility (such as a primary school) must be located, by law, within the neighborhood (and not in the most distant and peripheral point of the city) and that a possible solution, if you want it, you look for it with a little effort and in time (and not three years later than when the choice to demolish Ovid’s school was already known).

And in fact, last night, the twist!

During the public discussion with the mayoral candidates promoted by the parents, I proposed a series of possible real estate solutions, all located in the heart of the urban and Murat area and all seismically and functionally suitable, which received the full enthusiastic support of the participants.

Only at this point, even the candidate Forte, in harmony with her party comrades (5S), was unable to do anything other than recognise, with three years of delay, the feasibility of alternative solutions, opening up to solutions other than Selvapiana and leaving with an inch of his nose councilor Praitano who had spent so much up until a minute before to defend the solution of the Selva Piana Bridge School, as the only one possible, but reachable by shuttles (perhaps space ones).

In good time, one might say! If it weren’t for the fact that the candidate Forte is supported by the outgoing administration of the 5 Star Movement which made this mess (Praitano and Cretella first and foremost), causing us to find ourselves at the end of May without a shred of operational solution and with huge public money already spent on projects of feasibility as useless as they are unusable (such as the assignment of over 130 thousand euros to a company in Milan, on which I announce that maximum clarity will need to be made).

Beyond the state of confusion that dwells in the left-wing coalition and which is clear for all to see – and especially for the parents of the over 600 pupils who are still waiting for some answers on where and how their children will be transferred – a public notice is immediately indicated (not misleading like the one announced some time ago for other school buildings in another area) and all expressions of interest are collected seriously as soon as possible, indicating the characteristics of the buildings and dictating certain times for the delivery of the classrooms, in order to to guarantee an adequate solution for students and all school staff soon.”
