Aosta’s sustainable mobility urban plan has been approved

Councilor Sartore: the objective is to obtain a healthier environment and more road safety

With seventeen votes in favor and nine against, the Aosta city council approved the PUMS, Urban Sustainable Mobility Plan.

«Transport accounts for more than 30% of greenhouse gas emissions: if concrete actions are not implemented to reduce greenhouse gases, we will suffer serious climate and social consequences», stated Mobility councilor Loris Sartore, illustrating the document in the classroom. With the PUMS “the objective is to obtain a healthier environment and more road safety: fewer cars in circulation affects the number of road accidents”.

Declined through twelve Actions, the PUMS provides, among other things, the development of local public transport and the use of electric vehicles and bicycles, the reduction of individual car use by promoting bike sharing and car sharing practices, the of private cars from the city centre, a cycling mobility plan made up of cycle paths and urban Zone 30, the systematic reduction of parking in the centre. As part of sustainable logistics, the creation of minihubs and pick-up points for the distribution of goods from commercial activities is also planned.
