A long afternoon of passion for commuters awaits. In fact, train circulation was blocked in Santa Maria Novella due to people on the tracks.
Delays and cancellations are occurring for trains from north to south, both in the direction of Naples-Salerno and towards Siena, Venice, Bolzano or Borgo San Lorenzo.
The incident occurred around midday. The explosion of some firecrackers and smoke bombs outside the Santa Maria Novella station due to a demonstration made many fear further public order problems.
The Tuscany Consumer Movement intervened regarding the incident. “Even after the situation has been restored – they say in a note – it is not clear why regional trains also have to ‘bow down’ to high speed trains. The situation, also demonstrated by the now frequent events, is no longer sustainable.”
The association asks some questions. “What are the actions that the competent authorities intend to implement to prevent commuters from always being the ones to pay the price? – they ask – Has Councilor Baccelli informed the competent ministers of these now customary events? We await answers so that commuters can truly enjoy a right to mobility that is constantly threatened, among others, by the continuous presence of strangers on the tracks. We are curious to know how many of these perpetrators are convicted for the serious acts committed and for the significant consequences they produce on the movement of trains”.
