Future doctors, Italy opens its doors to Titan

Doors open to San Marino students in Italian universities. Precisely to future doctors. There are fourteen places reserved for San Marino citizens in Italian medical specialization schools. “An important increase – say the Institute for Social Security – to provide new training opportunities and invest in the doctors who will shape the ISS of the future”. The Executive Committee of the Institute has adopted the resolution which establishes the places reserved for San Marino citizens or residents for access to specialization schools for the next academic year. There are 14 different courses optioned, each for one place: Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases, Psychiatry, Oncology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Respiratory System Diseases, Allergology and Clinical Immunology, Dermatology and Venereology, Otolaryngology, Medicine emergency-urgency, Paediatrics, Neurology and Urology. The universities affiliated with the ISS where these specialization courses can be carried out are the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia, the San Raffaele University of Milan and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome. “Places in specialization schools – explain the ISS – are reserved for San Marino citizens or for residents of the territory for at least one year who have obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery. The Institute will provide the Universities directly with an annual contribution equal to the amount of the fee, which the trainee will then be required to reimburse, once the specialty has been obtained, within five years from the date of signing a collaboration contract with the ISS”. New graduates who meet the requirements and are interested in taking advantage of these positions must submit an application to participate in the Executive Committee by May, indicating their specialty. “This initiative represents an important step for the growth of young doctors – says the Health Secretary Mariella Mularoni – The orientation towards specialist sectors of strategic importance will allow them to acquire specific skills and contribute to the health and well-being of the San Marino community”.
