Gaffeo: A program to build the Rovigo of the future

ROVIGO – “A program built together, certainly not a dream book, was presented at the Civic Association for Rovigo. A program carefully designed for respond in a sincere and concrete manner to the development needs of the city of Rovigo“.

This, in summary, is the electoral project of the coalition in support of the outgoing mayor Edoardo Gaffeo, re-nominated as leader of the Polesine capital. Gaffeo presented to the press the program with which he is running to lead the city for the next five years.

The program is not a simple fulfillment of the law for the electoral campaign, but a way of building the community. – Explained the mayoral candidate – We have activated various working groups which, together, have developed a substantial document. It was not a cosmetic operation, through a series of meetings and in-depth studies we managed to draw up together the vision of the Rovigo of the future. Our slogan is “The work continues”, because it is necessary to continue to develop the city and we have thought of it in five macro sectors: urban regeneration and social spaces; responsibility for the future; we build community, innovation, education and culture as drivers of development; Rovigo, capital of Southern Veneto. Five themes dedicated to the entire city, without ever forgetting the neighborhoods and hamlets, a program which in its entirety, in our opinion, presents itself as an element of differentiation compared to the administrations that have followed one another over time and which we believe can give a future in Rovigo”.

Accompanying the mayoral candidate Gaffeo were some members of the Civica Per Rovigo electoral list. For the field of culture and education the former councilor Benedetta Bagatin, candidate for the city council: “What we have managed to do in these years of administration has been very significant. As regards the reports that I had the honor of managing (culture, education and registry, NdCS), we have activated progressive and centre-left political policies. In the field of culture we have invested in the fabric that makes up this vast world, allowing a return in terms of people. Rovigo, in fact, is not a dead city, there are transversal events, there are many people carrying out various projects throughout the city in spaces that we have put in place. Let’s think about Sala Giro at the Museum of the Great Rivers, which has returned to the community’s disposal. On education, we managed services by addressing the great demographic challenge. This means bringing an update to these same services, with a new vision of related services, such as canteens and school transport, making them available to the family. This administration has spent and will spend so that these services are increasingly family-oriented.”

He then spoke Andrea Borgato, candidate for city councilor, who chose to speak “of community”, of a word that “characterizes the list’s program. A very important word, because if we do not grasp its value and do not pass it on, we have not understood its meaning. In a city that tends to divide, talking about community is fundamental. We must connect experiences and fundamental values such as dialogue, relationships, participation and listening. I would like the Department of Social Services to take on a different name, becoming “Department of Community Services”.

In addition to being vice president of the Civic association for Rovigo, the candidate for councilor Paolo Giolo spoke about sport: “the Gaffeo administration has redeveloped all the sports facilities throughout the city, including hamlets and neighbourhoods. They had been neglected for too long and 600 thousand euros were used. In recent days, work has started on the Ponzetti skate track and the work on the sports hall is also ready to start. We want Rovigo to become a “City of Sport”, which has a course of study in motor sciences and a citadel of sport at its service and at the service of all citizens”.

Still in the sporting field, the candidate councilor also spoke Tarè Bergamo: “sport is important, it’s my life. She taught me sacrifice, developed me mentally and in school. I attended sports science high school and the link between physical activity and education is fundamental.”

Representing Italia Viva, which supports Gaffeo’s re-nomination at the helm of the city, the candidate councilor spoke about regeneration Mauro Destro: “We enthusiastically joined Edoardo Gaffeo’s project. We did it because we believe it has achieved excellent results and for the seriousness of the proposed program with strategic projects and great values. We are aiming for urban redevelopment and concreteness.”

Finally, the councilor candidate concluded the press conference Alberto Lucchin: “It is a pride to be part of this progressive and centre-left coalition, with people who care so much about the future of our city. The past five years have been full of important goals, among these I consider particularly significant the mobility plan, slow and otherwise, which will allow those who travel by bike and car to do so without worries and with greater possibilities also for the of trade. There is still work to be done on this, improving the parking space system, also thanks to technology. There is the desire to build the Rovigo not only of the present but also of the future”.
