Certain Press – D’ALFONSO: “LA CHIETI

The press conference called by the Abruzzo Region on the doubling of the Pescara-Pescara railway line
Chieti will be held in L’Aquila. It’s not a joke: to talk about the infrastructure of the metropolitan area
you have to go away from them, pretending that there isn’t one of the two offices in Pescara
institutions of the regional council. Not only that: the meeting with journalists, which will be held on Tuesday 23rd
April, will be opened by greetings from the mayor of L’Aquila, but will not see the presence of the mayors of Chieti
and Pescara, i.e. the two cities mentioned in the project. We learn this from the Region’s website
Abruzzo.
It might seem like a belated April Fool’s joke, but it’s the sad reality: Marsilio keeps well away
from the Adriatic city – perhaps because last March 10th he turned his back on him, preferring Luciano
D’Amico – and chooses to launch his proclamations from an area certainly deserving of significance
infrastructural investments that have not been seen so far, without however inviting the first citizens of the
two communities most interested in this phase. Speaking of friends: the presence of the
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Galeazzo Bignami, and hopefully this time he leaves his shirt at home
black with a swastika on his arm with which he had himself portrayed a few years ago, since technical documents are needed
rather than political symbols buried by history.
The choice of a location logistically distant from the centers affected by the project echoes the
distance that the relocated president reveals more and more every day when faced with demanding requests
of the citizen committees that arose to protest against the route casually wanted by the council
regional, which involves the expropriation and demolition of hundreds of homes and businesses.
A track that could have a valid alternative in the Plus Variant – much less impactful –
on which, however, the Roman parachute proves deaf, blind and incompetent. Yet it really is up to you
the Regions have responsibility for infrastructure routes, as provided for in the article
117 of the Constitution, reiterated with sentence no. 303/2003 of the Constitutional Court regarding
railway infrastructure.
If these are the harbingers of the XII legislature, Abruzzo is facing a very
difficult.
Hon. Luciano D’Alfonso
