The LIS (Italian Sign Language) service will continue throughout the summer. in the holy mass which is celebrated at the weekend at the Santo Padre delle Perriere Sanctuary in Marsala. The service, to allow the deaf to follow the Holy Mass, has been active for 4 years and the Eucharistic celebration is marked by Salvatore Samannà, member of the national association “Animu”. For the summer period, but starting now, the Holy Mass in LIS is celebrated either on Saturday at 7.30 pm or on Sunday, at the same time. Since the LIS interpreting service has been active, some deaf families from the province have approached the Sanctuary and regularly attend the Eucharistic celebrations. In the Diocese, before the Covid pandemic, a course on basic notions of LIS for pastoral workers was also organised, again conducted by Salvatore Samannà.
