Symphonic, a collective madness – Buttanissima Sicilia

At the Symphony it continues to wander in the shadows. Superintendent Andrea Peria has not yet packed his bags after the opinion of the Region’s Attorney’s Office which, in fact, declared him “incompatible”. He announced his resignation and that was it. He is waiting to approve the budget, to give Fratelli d’Italia – who is preparing for yet another subdivision – time to find a replacement. But in the meantime politics boils over. The latest attack is from Antonello Cracolici, regional deputy of the Democratic Party and president of the Ars Anti-Mafia commission: “What is happening to the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra is shameful – Cracolici denounces -: it is absurd that after months we have a president who has resigned, an incompatibility of the Superintendent and a regional government that takes no initiative to restore guarantees and stability to the top management of Foss. All this happens at a time in which culture is considered only an armchair factory and not a tool to attract and convey the image of an active and enterprising Sicily”.

Cracolici is the first signatory of a question presented to “take immediate initiatives and to restore certainty to an institution – adds Cracolici – while the government, retreating to the logic of occupying power, is not even able to carry out ordinary administration activities. Furthermore, I would like to remind you that the regional department has announced that it will block ordinary transfers, therefore calling into question the payment of emoluments to the artists and theater staff, and it is doing so due to responsibilities that lie with the same department which did not supervise functions and tasks that he assigned within the orchestra”.

But also about the last act questions follow one another about Peria: given his clear “incompatibility” (he is also president of Corecom), will the auditors allow him to approve the 2023 budget if this also risks becoming illegitimate?
