Milan, more and more Fonseca in destiny?

At Milan the daisy has now been peeled, the last remaining petal is that of Paulo Fonseca. The former Roma coach seems to be the “only” number one candidate now on the bench of the Rossoneri Devil. Everything seems to hang for the choice of the Portuguese former three-time Ukrainian champion, who with the Giallorossi before leaving in favor of José Mourinho also reached a semi-final of the Europa League. In the end, Portuguese seemed to have to be and Portuguese will be, but not the fans’ favorite Portuguese, Sergio Conceicao, but Fonseca.

Marseille and the preference for Milan

Faced with Marseille’s offer, Paulo Fonseca hesitated, the deal was almost done, when Milan then advanced. The option now preferred by Milan is that of the former Roma, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk coach. And Fonseca has received Milan’s message: the Rossoneri chose the coach for his way of playing, for the way in which he developed his players in the excellent two-year period at Lille. And it is clear that the Rossoneri, at least the Rossoneri managers, consider the profile of the coach born in Nampula in Mozambique to be the perfect profile to evolve.

With all due respect to the fans who, after having fiercely contested the choice previously made on Lopetegui, will now hardly be able to direct Milan’s sights elsewhere. Provided that they ever really counted for something in the choice to no longer focus on the former Real Madrid coach.

Knowledge of the field and palmares

Some characteristics certainly influenced Fonseca’s choice, such as the proactive way of playing and the attention paid to the development of young players. However, an important component compared to other candidacies such as those of Van Bommel, Lopetegui himself and others is undoubtedly the knowledge of the Italian championship, but also the good palmares. The cups in his personal cabinet are certainly secondary, but still interesting: 3 Ukrainian Championships, 3 Ukrainian Cups, 1 Ukrainian Super Cup, 1 Portuguese Cup and 1 Portuguese Super Cup.
