29 April 2024 – Tomorrow evening, Tuesday 30 April, in Imola, in the prestigious setting of the Teatro Comunale Ebe Stignani, an evening dedicated to the imminent Grand Depart in Emilia-Romagna, the start of the Tour de France with the two former greats Vincenzo Nibali and Gianni Bugno (9pm – free entry).
The Sicilian champion, last Italian winner of the Grand Boucle (in 2014) and Gianni Bugno, who was the protagonist of the Tour de France with 4 stage victories, 2 of which were legendary, in 1990 and 1991 at Alpe D’Huez), will be the special guests of the talk show presented by the Forlì journalist Roberto Feroli, which will also see the presence of Davide Cassani, former coach of the Italian national team and now President of Apt Servizi Emilia-Romagna, who as a professional cyclist has raced 9 Tours de France and Rai journalist commented on 19 of them.
«Tomorrow will be a special opportunity to share many stories and anecdotes linked to the Grand Boucle – comments Cassani – like the 1987 Tour, the one that started from the Berlin of the Wall, which was truly unforgettable for me. We won the team time trial, the Tour was won by the Irishman Stephen Roche, my captain (who after excelling in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour also won the World Championship in Villach, with a historic hat-trick never equaled since no sample). I spent two very difficult days, I arrived at the start feverish, but I managed to get to Paris at the head of the group with my teammates and the yellow jersey on our wheel. A special day, after three weeks winning the Tour with your captain… well it will always remain in my heart.”
During the evening, the documentary film entirely dedicated to the Grand Dèpart “60 days at the Tour de France” will be screened, created by the director Stefano Ferrari, a writer and journalist from Modena, who with meticulous work over 12 months has collected images and testimonies related to the arrival of the yellow race.
The Grand Depart of the 2024 Tour de France is getting closer and closer; the official countdown, which started at -100 from the start last March in Florence, now reaches -60 days until the passage to Imola, a place that has become historic in cycling and has hosted two World Championships (in 1968 and 2020). The 3 stages are now known: 29 June Florence-Rimini, 30 June Cesenatico-Bologna and 1 July Piacenza-Turin. Precisely during the second stage, the Grand Boucle will pass through the city of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Autodrome, arriving there from the now famous Gallisterna climb, a great protagonist in 2020 first of the World Championships and then of the Italian Championships, again in road cycling.
