Rotatoria Sp2, the centre-right BAT: «Lodispoto forgets about Andria and Montegrosso»

We receive and publish a note from the center-right BAT provincial councilors (Michele Nobile, Michele Vitrani, Gennaro Calabrese, Michele De Noia, Gianni di Leo) on the matter relating to the Sp2 roundabout:

«We express our solidarity with the businesses, workers and inhabitants of Montegrosso. We ask ourselves why, despite knowing about the works, in these 5 years nothing has been done by the centre-left Lodispoto administration to create the alternative road network necessary to allow access to the village of Montegrosso. Today, to the detriment of the Province and its citizens, all the issues of the “Lodispoto dis-administration” are coming home to roost.

With the dismantling of the roundabout and the closure to traffic of the stretch of the SP 2 that leads to the historic village of Andria, the damage to the communities in the area will be enormous.

It is a vital road for the world of farmers, for the presence of wine and olive growing companies and for the excellent local restaurants.

A story which, therefore, does not only concern Andria and Montegrosso. In fact, there will be serious consequences for those who have to go to Castel del Monte, Minervino Murge, Spinazzola, Altamura, Matera.

Added to these problems is the need to continue to guarantee the health of residents and workers in the area. As the entrepreneur and restaurateur Pietro Zito denounced: “How, for example, will ambulances reach us in case of emergency?”.

The BAT Province accelerates the timely classification procedures, compatible with the state of the places and with the provisions of the Highway Code. The technical-functional classification as a secondary extra-urban road (type C) would allow access to be maintained.

Considering Lodispoto’s lack of involvement in the problem and that all responsibility for providing a solution lies with the Lodispoto Administration, we announce the only possible initiative.

In fact, on May 2nd, on the occasion of the opening of the construction site, we will be on site as a sign of solidarity. We invite all the municipal councilors of the interested municipalities to do the same, without jackets or party flags.”
