“Sant’Agostino is the territory of Tarquinia and remains so…”

Coast – Mayor Giulivi nips in the bud the petition launched by Magri to move it to Civitavecchia and adds: “In the unlikely event that he were to be elected, think about the problems of his city”

Tarquinia – “The Sant’Agostino beach in Civitavecchia? Now I’ll write it down…”. The mayor of Tarquinia Alessandro Giulivi throws it into irony.

Alessandro Giulivi

The petition proposed by Ivan Magri, candidate for Civitavecchia councilor for the next municipal elections, in which he proposes to “take back” that slice of coastline is inadmissible. Definitely not, irony aside.

“Territories remain territories – Giulivi specifies – but if he has any problems, Magri can write to me. He writes to me and I reply to him. In Italian”. A match with due attention to grammar.

Magri’s proposal aims to bring back to Civitavecchia an area that in fact is already frequented by his fellow citizens, as he points out, looking for a slice of beach, given that they don’t have much of it in those parts.

The attempt isn’t even too original, according to Giulivi. “They’ve been trying for twenty years – continues the mayor – Sant’Agostino remains where he is. It is the territory of Tarquinia and remains so.”

This is followed by a polite invitation to Magri not to trespass. “If they were to vote for him, a totally unlikely hypothesis, he would think about solving the problems of Civitavecchia”.

Magri, however, is also critical of the neighboring administration: “A beautiful beach, a very sparsely inhabited area – says Magri – abandoned by the municipality of Tarquinia in terms of services, only paid parking for the Civitavecchia residents who go to the sea there, which had no valorisation, because Tarquinia preferred other places closer to its city centre, Tarquinia Lido and Marina Velca”.

As if by chance, Giulivi replies: “There have been interventions and we are valorising it as an area”. Indeed, the mayor also looks further. In time and space.

“I have already made an agreement – Giulivi anticipates – with Fratelli d’Italia’s candidate for mayor in Civitavecchia, to coordinate valorisation activities. So Magri came second.” And even with a different mayoral candidate. But he will still be welcome in St. Augustine. Municipality of Tarquinia.
